Religious Discussion.

Ignoring other problems I have been going through, I take care of those very personally with those closest to me.  But this is something more philosophical, and something I want more than just one person to talk to about it.  This topic is religion, specifically mine.  Currently I am Catholic, and for the most part like it, especially a lot better than most other Christian groups.  After talking to people, listening to arguements, and hearing so much about the different ways of interpreting everything, I feel like even a lot of Catholisim is not so much wrong, but often unneeded.

Going through the Bible, through interpretations, arguements, I have seen so much.  One big thing that I have seen is the arguing about translation of the Bible, I don't know what to trust on it anymore.  Another thing that goes hand in hand with that is the debate about what books belong in the Bible, what are opinions of people, what is divine revelation, what is symbolic, what is literal.  So much of it seems so senseless, wars and killing have been fought over it.

What I think I may have figured out in of myself, of the things that I know to be fact and truth of God, of Jesus, are the following:

The Ten Commandments are direct word from God on the pure basis of morality, and what will allow us to live moral, happy lives.

Jesus was born with God as the father, Mary was a virgin at the conception of Jesus.  But I don't see why she wouldent lose that to her husband, seems like the kind of thing God likes, you know, married couples having children, or at least trying.

I believe in the loving of all people.

I rarely believe violence is the answer.  As such, I am a near pacifist.  Doesn't mean I dislike pretend violence, such as in TV, video games, or wrestling with friends.  That is usually fun.

I believe that you must have faith in Jesus to enter into heaven, thoug what happens to those that do not even know of Jesus, I am unsure about and it is quite confusing.

Communion (taking of Wine and Bread that has become Jesus' blood and body) was said to do in memory of Jesus, and as such, it seems like a proper way of introducing Jesus into your life, by actually partaking of his body and blood unto yourself.  I don't believe that it is so much required for salvation, or even ever.  I do believe it is a good way to help accept Jesus though, and if it is done, should be with unlevened bread(such as it was Passover time), and with real wine, or else it is cheapened from the original happenings.

Baptism is something one should do when they feel like they should accept Jesus.  As it was originally, one was Baptized as an adult, to willingly wash away their sins.  As such, it seems wrong to do this when one cannot make a choice, seeing how nothing can happen if you don't accept it.

It seems like all someone needs to do is to believe in Jesus, and live the word by loving everyone as humans, as well as act on that and help those in need.  So much ritual seems cheapened and away from that in some forms.  I still stick by the Catholic church as one of the best of them.  If you want to talk to about any of this, feel free to e-mail or AIM me.
